Dainik Jagran wanted to establish itself as agenda-setting newspaper. Since, India became 4th most dangerous country for women according to Reuters survey. The newspaper wanted to lend a 1st person voice on the gender issue. They wanted to establish a view point from a girl’s perspective. Dainik Jagran invited 957 girls to write about the status of women in contemporary India and the editorial reins of the newspaper were handle over to 72 girls on 11th October-International Day of Girl Child.
The newspaper was successful in establishing an equal world for ‘half of humanity’ by creating a platform for the girls to directly voice their opinion on the world. It was a uniquely fulfilling experiment to see the’ subject’ becoming the ‘spokesperson’. It gave the girls a sense of empowerment by amplifying their voice.
